Die SBB Baskets haben ihre Wurzeln in Wolmirstedt, verstehen sich zugleich aber auch als der leistungsorientierte Basketballklub für die Menschen in der gesamten Börde und Sachsen-Anhalts Landeshauptstadt Magdeburg.
Ab der Saison 2025/2026 ziehen die SBB Baskets in die neue Spielstätte nach Magdeburg in die Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle. Aufgrund der Regularien der Liga für die ProA ist ein Umzug in eine neue Spielstätte notwendig.
Die SBB Baskets haben sich mit der #VISION2030 das Ziel gesetzt, den Klub bis zum Jahr 2030 zu einer erstklassigen Organisation zu entwickeln. Bis dahin soll der Aufstieg in die easyCredit BBL gelingen und die nötigen Strukturen im Umfeld geschaffen werden. Den Menschen in Magdeburg, Wolmirstedt und der gesamten Region Börde soll Basketball auf höchstem Niveau geboten werden.
